MEETROBYN, ARNP, PMHNP

With over 15 years of experience, Robyn has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient and inpatient psychiatric facilities and clinics. This diversity of experience has given her the knowledge to understand the full range of mental health issues. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents and adults struggling with ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Psychotic Disorders, along with other psychiatric issues. She believes the combination of biology, psychology, stage of development, and social stressors lead to unique mental health challenges and coping strategies.

Robyn’s practice focuses on medication management and brief supportive therapy.

FAQ, POLICIES & PROCEDURE

What is an ARNP, PMHNP

An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is a highly educated nurse with at least six years of post-secondary education. Graduate studies focus on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions within his or her specialty. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) have focused their training in Psychiatry. Master’s prepared nurses must then pass a national certification exam to be eligible for licensure in their state. In Washington ARNP’s have full prescriptive authority, can practice completely independently, and are able to bill insurance companies for their services.

Initial Evaluations

New patients are set up with an initial evaluation that is 60-90 minutes long. This assessment is designed to clarify the issues you or your child are facing. Robyn needs to gather a significant amount of information regarding the onset and nature of the problem, as well as any physical or psychosocial stressors that may be contributing factors. After we have gathered needed information, we will begin to work together to develop a treatment plan to meet your individual needs and help define your goals for treatment. For children and adolescents, this most often includes family input. At this point medication may be prescribed and we can begin discussing behavioral, lifestyle, and therapy strategies to help you meet your goals.

Follow-up appointments

After the initial evaluation, patients will for return a follow-up appointment to monitor their progress. This is an essential part of treatment. We will look at the effectiveness of medications and other therapies. These appointments are extremely important, and generally are 20-30 minutes long. Occasionally, these can last up to 60 minutes. If a patient thinks they need more time, or we agree that more time is needed, please let the front desk know. Robyn recommends scheduling each follow-up appointment at the end of your preceding appointment. The maximum time between appointments is three-months once stability is achieved.

Prescriptions

Robyn will write prescriptions with enough refills to last until a patient’s next appointment. Robyn recommends scheduling the next appointment at the conclusion of the previous one. This ensures patients are able to come in before running out of medication. If a patient is on prescription medication, it is very important that they are monitored on a regular basis, which is why there are policies in place regarding refills.
If the patient forgets, or is unable to come in prior to running out of medications, please have the pharmacy fax a refill request and call the office to schedule an appointment. If a patient does not have a scheduled appointment, Robyn cannot refill the prescription. This is a safety measure to protect patients. Please note, these requests may take up to two business days to complete.
Medications such as benzodiazepines and stimulants are tightly regulated. Stimulant medications require a written prescription and cannot be called in. Please be aware that Robyn will not authorize early refills for these types of medications. Please keep paper prescription and medications in a safe, secure location because Robyn cannot replace lost, damaged, or stolen prescriptions/medications.

Insurance

Robyn is an in-network provider with Premera Blue Cross, Regence, First Choice, HMA, Uniform, Lifewise, Maggelan, and Bridge Span. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your benefits.
Robyn also accepts patients with out-of-network insurance and individuals who are self-pay. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network benefits. You may contact our office to obtain a complete fee schedule.

Cancellation/No-show’s

In order to best serve patients, Robyn needs to make sure time is used in an appropriate manner. If a patient has a late cancellation or does not show for an appointment, Robyn is unable to offer that time to other patients who may need it. Robyn’s goal is to help as many people as possible in the time allotted. Except in extreme emergencies, there will be a fee for cancellations made less than 48 business hours in advance, or in the case of no-shows. Please note this fee is not covered by insurance.

Phone & Email Communications

It is very important that Robyn sees you face-to-face for most things. Phone and email communications cannot replace in-person visits. Robyn will answer very simple questions via email and/ or a phone call, however this is not a preferred method of communication in most cases. It is NOT appropriate if you are in crisis, as response time is up to 48-hours.

If you are in a life threatening emergency call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.  If you are experiencing a behavioral health crisis and cannot wait until the next business day for a response, please call the 24-hour crisis line at 866-427-4747.

Please remember that while Robyn takes precautions to protect your privacy, there are security risks inherent to email communication. Please choose what you include in email with this in mind.

Completion of Forms and other Documentation

All letters, forms and additional documentation require a separate appointment from your initial evaluation or subsequent medication management appointments. Often times, Robyn needs your input on questions that are being asked. Please note that Robyn does not do psychiatric evaluations to determine disability status, or evaluations that are court mandated, for use in court cases, including child custody cases, or Risk Assessments. Additionally, Robyn does not provide letters for ESA’s and reserves the right to refuse to write a letter or fill out paperwork that she is not comfortable with. In the event that Robyn is subpoenaed and must appear in court or communicate with members of your legal team, she will bill an hourly rate as well as an additional fee if this activity interrupts her ability to care for other patients. Please contact Robyn for more information.
